Children’s mental health programmes in Kenya

Little Lions Kenya supports children’s mental wellbeing through local partnerships, trained coaches and community based emotional resilience programmes.

Working with schools and community organisations, we bring practical mental wellbeing support into trusted spaces where children already learn, grow and connect.

Our work in Kenya

Little Lions Kenya works with local partners to help children:

  • Understand and talk about emotions
  • Build confidence and self awareness
  • Learn practical coping skills
  • Develop resilience
  • Strengthen positive relationships
  • Take part in open mental health conversations

Our approach is partner led, locally relevant and designed to strengthen the people and spaces already supporting children.

A community rooted approach

Many children and families do not have easy access to professional mental health support.

Little Lions Kenya helps create another layer of care by strengthening the people, relationships and spaces already surrounding children.

By training and supporting local coaches, the programme becomes part of existing community structures. This helps make mental health conversations more accessible, culturally relevant and locally sustained.

Kenya impact

In 2025, Little Lions Kenya reached:

  • 418 children
  • 5 implementation partners
  • Local coaches leading delivery
  • Schools and community organisations supported

Partners in Kenya have reported stronger emotional awareness, improved confidence, positive behaviour shifts and children applying practical emotional tools in daily life.
